Client Chat Series — For another take on the theme of simplifying labeling, we recently took the opportunity to chat with Zach Fickey, who is in charge of events for Deep Ellum Brewing Company.
Tell us about your brewery.
Deep Ellum Brewery is an independent, privately owned operation. We opened on 11-11-2011. Since the opening took place in Winter, our first brew was a double bock stout: Deep Ellum IPA. It has become a year-round product. At the same time, we released our Cherry Chocolate Double Brown, another seasonal stout. SixB Labels printed the box label and bottle label for both of those products, and all of our products since.

How did you find out about SixB Labels?
Maxim Barkhatov, our Art Director — his title here is Creative Director of Propaganda — was already familiar with the quality of your work from his agency background. Your company was our first and only label provider. From the beginning, we have always considered SixB Labels to be a part of the Deep Ellum Brewing Family.
The style and imagery of your labels has a bit of a rough-hewn look. How did the label development go?
We knew what we wanted at the outset. The look of all our labels was created specifically with the (Dallas) Deep Ellum neighborhood in mind. We wanted the style of our labels and packaging to reflect the collective culture and history of the area as it has developed over the last 20 - 30 years. SixB Labels gave us what we needed for a variety of applications, both indoor and out. You can see that on our bottle and box labels, tap labels, ID card "Call for Service" labels, and giveaways like bumper stickers.
