The Barbie Movie: The Success of Eye-Candy Brand Marketing

Fizzy as a cascade of sparkling pink Champagne, buoyant as the pink balloons some might choose for a little girl's birthday party, the latest news has been full of the resounding success of Warner Brother's Barbie movie. With global ticket sales, it is rapidly on track to gross a billion dollars. Of course, the film has a built-in audience of women, and people of all genders, who loved the Mattel toy as children. And much of that audience was hungry for cinematic fare that catered to their tastes after a steady diet of action/superhero franchise movies.  But a really important factor had to be the creative marketing campaign that saturated the media, eight months in the making, and the visuals that made it so potent.

How To Weave Pantone's 2022 Color of the Year Into Labeling?

Happy Gregorian Calendar New Year, Lunar New Year and a Very Peri PANTONE Color of the Year 2022!

Personally I am a proud PANTONE Color Products enthusiast, sipping my coffee from a PANTONE 520 Aubergine-hued mug as I write this post. As we were developing our end-of-2021 marketing, I made sure we weaved in the year’s two colors — PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. So it should not be much of a surprise that I was waiting in anticipation for them to announce their 2022 Color of The Year: PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri.

We are so excited to start using the color in our marketing that the SixB team designed some festive logos for the occasion, featured here, incorporating a solid Very Peri in reverse as well as one with an image of fibers and orbs in reverse, as PANTONE has been highlighting in their materials about the color.

What are Some of the Biggest Label Trends for 2021?

As we noted in a recent blog post, as a producer of custom labels, SixB Labels makes a significant, ongoing effort to stay on top of industry trends for our customers. Here of late we have been considering the upcoming year, 2021, with an eye to future trends, which we expect to be an outgrowth of some of what we witnessed in 2020.

The effects of the pandemic have been profound on how business is conducted. They include the change to working from home, virtual meetings, increased online shopping, the move from bigger brands to local suppliers, direct-to-consumer sales, drop shipping, and the growth of smaller online retailers (like our online store).  These trends are here to stay, even after Covid-19 is vanquished.  In the midst of these ongoing challenges, the good news is that the printing industry, and label printing in particular, have proven themselves resilient and flexible — willing and able to embrace change.

A Guide to Hot Foil Label Stamping

What is Hot Foil Label Stamping?

Hot foil stamping is the process used to print hot foil labels or hot stamp labels, among other products. It may sometimes be referred to as hot stamping or foil stamping and is a fantastic way of producing high-quality luxury labels.

The process involves the use of a hot stamping machine, where a die is heated and the product to be stamped is placed below it. The die is then pressed through a metalized or painted roll leaf carrier and the dry paint or foil is impressed into the surface of the product, in this case, a label. Because the materials involved are dry, hot foil stamping is a non-polluting process.
