The PANTONE Color Institute has delivered another shiny new gift to the public, in the form of their announcement of the 2024 PANTONE Color of the Year: PANTONE 13-1023, Peach Fuzz.  PANTONE made the official announcement of their newest choice on December 7, 2023.  Advertisers and marketers, graphic designers, as well as manufacturers and sellers of products from cosmetics to home goods, from clothing to specialty tea blends, would do well to take note.

After the cool liquid intensity of 2022's Very Peri and the vivid brilliance of Viva Magenta in 2023, the downy warmth of 2024 PANTONE Peach Fuzz is a decided change of pace. A lighter shade of peach between orange and pink, this sunshiny color invites us to relax and bask in its gentle warmth. It hints at morning stillness, golden afternoon light, peach-tinted flower buds, and soft indoor surfaces: plush rugs, sweaters for every season, and woolly throws.

This tender new tint would be right at home in both interior and exterior paint and decoration, as well as point-of-sale displays and signage for a vast array of products, and could be a perfect choice of color for a large variety of labels. It would make sense to take a deeper look at the many potential applications for this calm, soft, inviting shade of peach, and consider how it might help to sell your company's product or service.

As we have in past years, we love to showcase PANTONE'S choice for Color of the Year by weaving it into our own marketing imagery. Here are a couple of our logos featuring  PANTONE'S soft and gentle shade for the upcoming year, Peach Fuzz.

If you don't follow PANTONE or pay attention to color trends in general, you might be wondering why you should care about 2024 PANTONE’S Color of the Year. But you owe it to yourself — and your business — to pay attention to this news because color is such an effective tool for product marketers and sales professionals. Color is one of the most powerful mediums for advertising messages because it can create associations between advertising imagery and the feelings that marketers seek to evoke in the viewer.

Just contrast the different feelings conveyed by cool, fresh Very Peri, vibrant, luxurious Viva Magenta, and soft, warm Peach Fuzz!  It is always a good idea to utilize both vivid colors and their softer shades in your marketing and advertising imagery, to help create an emotional attachment to your products or services, as a way to communicate their value to your potential customers.

To provide some backstory, we will address the PANTONE Color of the Year selection process, why Peach Fuzz was created, and how it informs SixB Labels’ business. [Readers looking for more information on the history of the PANTONE Color Institute's Color of the Year program are invited to visit our previous blog posts on the subject: What Could 2023 PANTONE Color of the Year Offer to Your Labeling? as well as How To Weave Pantone's 2022 Color of the Year Into Labeling?] We have also included some suggestions for how this color selection might prove a good fit within our typical label printing categories: Health, Beauty & Wellness; Beer, Spirits, other Beverages; and Pet Products.

What is the PANTONE Color of the Year Process?

Since 1999, when the PANTONE Color Institute created the PANTONE Color of the Year educational program, it has been reaching out to a global audience of design community members and color enthusiasts, highlighting how events in the global culture are both expressed and reflected through the language of color.

To arrive at the Color of the Year, the color experts at PANTONE evaluate almost anything in the world that impacts color. From sports to the arts, from fashion to entertainment and every facet of design, as well as new technologies, textures and materials, even travel destinations: PANTONE considers all of the worldwide influences upon color.

Why Was PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz Picked as the 2024 Color of the Year?

On its website, the PANTONE Color Institute introduces its newest Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz 13-1023, in terms that signify a definite departure from the last two years.  Their 2024 color choice expresses the desire to nurture ourselves and others and find closeness and connection.

The Institute declares that Peach Fuzz is evocative of coziness, comfort, and kindliness, "radiant with warmth and modern elegance.  A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless." After a couple of intense and strenuous years, it is no real wonder that the color experts at PANTONE felt that they needed to send the world a message to relax and smell the lovely peach flowers!

How Can You Make PANTONE's Peach Fuzz Relevant For Your Labels?

As a company, we will always do whatever we can to support our client's business, and a core part of that mission involves our role as a consultative sales organization, a role we have focused on for the entire time SixB Labels has been in business. Therefore, we continually strive to be an inspirational resource, and we have sought to make this available in a multitude of ways. See, for example, our “7 Ways To Label" blog post.

With that consideration in mind, we strongly recommend that you take notice of PANTONE's pick for the upcoming year, Peach Fuzz, and think about how and where you could apply it in your branding. Consider how you could include it in signage, packaging, and particularly in your labeling. No one knows better than the SixB Team how potent a tool color can be for effective branding. That is why our company decided to make Reflex Blue our brand color, a switch from the Red hues that we began with when we first started our business and were working to stand out in our industry.

In addition, the explosive growth and popularity of the digital printing method for labeling, and the wide variety of methods offered by our team for labeling with a short volume of multiple designs, make it easy to incorporate a color like Peach Fuzz into an exploratory product, as well as into label design.

What are Some Label Design Ideas That Might Incorporate PANTONE’S Peach Fuzz?

The choice of a color as soft and inviting as Peach Fuzz would have a positive effect for many types of labels. We suggest that you review some of our ideas below and reach out for a complimentary quote on your Peach Fuzz thematic label.

    • Food Product Labels — The tones of Peach Fuzz, with hints of juicy stone fruits (think nectarines, apricots, plumcots, and mangoes), as well as candies, jams, jellies, sauces, yogurt, kefir, ice cream and other dessert concoctions, and any food that is natural/organic, spicy or exotic, are a perfect fit for a host of food product label applications.

    • Cosmetic, Health, Beauty Labels For the bold and experimental,
a Peach-Fuzz-tinged hair peach-fuzz-cosmetic-product-labelscolor might be a fine direction to take the color.  Since we can provide you with the option to print your labels digitally, undertaking a shorter run volume for a "Peach Fuzz Hair Color" label becomes an affordable goal for a beauty company when printing their staple color products. And because Peach Fuzz is such an enticing color, it lends itself to everything from nail paint to lip gloss, lipstick,  blush and eye shadow.

    • Wellness Product Labels Because Peach Fuzz is a color reminiscent of so much in nature, from fruits to flowers to seashells, PANTONE'S  Color of the Year for 2024 would be a perfect match for a tincture or other organic/nature-based product. peach-health-product-labelsThe softness and warmth of the PANTONE Color of the Year for 2024 on a label is an excellent match for a multitude of nature-based remedies; for example, a CBD product-line-up. Beyond smaller volume runs, digital labels are a great medium for photography. The background of a Peach Fuzz label could feature a bowl of fruit, or a flower in shades of that color, or even a wash of Peach Fuzz  for a solid color background.

    • Pet Product Labels Although it might appear that PANTONE'S Color Of The Year for 2024 would best be suited to luxury, fashion, peach-pet-product-labeland cosmetic brands, as opposed to pet product labeling,  that need not be the case.  Since shades of Peach Fuzz appear everywhere in nature, with the gentle tones depicted in photography or other artwork, your pet product label would stand out, whether it appeared on the shelf in a brick-and-mortar store or on a web page.

    • General Beverage Labels — With its roots in nature, the enticing color that is Peach Fuzz lends itself to beverage advertising. Whether low-to-no caloric Sparkling Waters, which are still a growing market, or other non-alcoholic beverages, the welcoming warmth of PANTONE'S Color of the Year for 2024 makes for an attractive label. For a holiday sale or a shorter product run, it is simple to weave in Peach Fuzz for a limited-time product. Whether for these waters or other non-alcohol-based beverage labels, simply incorporating the hues within your labeling will also attract buyers without necessarily having to alter your beverage's flavors or its name. With the latter scenario, if incorporating Peach Fuzz into a longer-term product's labeling strategy, where a larger-volume label order seems appropriate, the project could include some higher-quantity price breaks as well.

    • Beer Labels & Spirits Labels Branding and packaging for beer, as well as whiskey, tequila, vodka and other spirits, have gone farther afield these days and included whimsical and creative twists. This means that these types of products are well suited for some limited available versions leveraging Peach Fuzz in their packaging. Options could include mixing in these Beers & Spirits and their technically shorter-volume unique designs (along with their even quirkier names and relatable flavorings) with more staple offerings in your multi-version digital label printing. Also, for those smaller wineries, we are happy to strategize a labeling solution to produce a small batch of wine labels if you come across a unique harvest.

However, if you choose to explore the many ways you might take advantage of the radiant choice of PANTONE's 2024 Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz, we want to thank you for reviewing these ideas to determine if they might be suitable for you and your business. We sincerely hope that you will consider partnering with SixB Labels on your next label project, and as part of our "thank you in advance" for reaching out to us about your next project, we have a special offer.
